Danny Birt has been a music therapist since 2005. A graduate in music therapy and psychology from Loyola University New Orleans with a masters degree in music therapy from Shenandoah University, he is also dual-certified in massage therapy and completed his masters thesis combining the two disciplines in creating an interdisciplinary respiratory systemic protocol for stress management. Through his music therapy career, he has worked in a variety of settings with clients ranging in age from premature infants in the NICU through elders in hospice care. Birt is a published author, editor, and composer, particularly known for his works in speculative fiction in all three areas.

I'll need to watch it several times just to absorb it all. I loved it!!! I'm so happy I was able to view it. Seeing your process in choosing the perfect song is a method I’m adding to my tool box. It will make my lyric analysis activity even more therapeutic and relevant to treatment. I've been doing this since 1999 and have become slightly jaded when learning new stuff outside of Shenandoah University but you were so engaging and actually fun to watch. I loved the lyrics analysis course. It is very comprehensive as it covers both the practical side of the application as well as evidence-based references. I have been using the techniques I learnt from Danny at work (mental health hospital setting). The techniques are particularly useful in psycho-education and helping patients with developing insights through looking at the lyrics supported by awesome music.
