Dr Krout discusses the different styles and sizes of ukulele available and demonstrates their sounds and uses. Dr Krout covers the most common keys and provides useful chord graphs to help you learn your ukulele chords.

Author Bio

Robert E. Krout, EdD, MT-BC is Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Music Therapy Department at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where he taught for 13 years. Robert moved to Texas from New Zealand, where he directed that country’s first university post graduate music therapy program. He was previously Music Therapy Manager at Hospice of Palm Beach County, Florida. Prior to that, Robert taught at the State University of New York at New Paltz for 15 years. Robert earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College, and his M.A., Ed.M, and Ed.D in music therapy, special education, and music education/therapy from Columbia University in New York. He currently lives in Galveston, and teaches ukulele, guitar, and music psychology courses at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Texas Medical Branch and Galveston College. Robert founded and serves as the music director of the Galveston Ukulele Society, a community group open to players of all ages and abilities.
